in the build
things might seem abit on the slow end on the forums but among the crew, its anything but slow. some new vehicles have recently joined the team what mean that new projects are starting while other projects continue churning away.
everyone has been egging each other on and supporting & helping out the builds so I thought i would take some time out to give people an insight on some of the projects happening at the moment.
Fielding’s DC2R Integra
Fielding’s Integra was taken off the road earlier this year. The entire car was stripped down to a bare chassis. His B18CR motor and driveline is making way for a K series with an FN2R gearbox and shafts.
The body and c-west lip kit is currently getting prepped for a new respray with the entire engine bay getting shaved and all wires tucked.
Interior wise, designs are already being drafted for a half cage and all intstruments and acessories are being setup around the main track functionality of the car.
BJ’s 1937 Ford Pickup ‘Ratrod’
BJ recently got rid of [REVHRD] to make way for his new build. He brought a
1937 Ford pickup in order to turn it into a 50′s themed rat rod. Fabrication, espcially around the chassis will be a massive part of the build. the chassis has already been notched to get ready for an airbag suspension setup to slam the frame to the ground. Suicide doors are also planned.
engine wise the car will be running a big block supercharged detroit v8. This will really haul the ute. The car will also have updated hardware such as big brakes and rack/pinon steering.
style wise the car will be typical rat rod influenced. mattes and rusted spots with the must have speedshop signage on the doors.
Moiz’s DC2 Integra
Moiz is also building his car primarily with track duties in mind. That being said, it is also one of the cleanest looking cars in the crew. The car is already running an updated front and rear end as well as a mugen lip upfront and mugen spoiler on the rear.
with the exterior looking so tidy, Moiz is currently focusing on braking and performance. Going down the bulletproof NA route, An entire new intake setup is making its way into the engine bay along with an upgraded fuel system. I see an ecu making its way in shortly.
Being on the innovative end, Moiz has sourced a BB6 prelude brake setup instead of going down the common ITR setup. Put simply, once cmplete, this car will stop on a dime.
Nath’s ES Lancer
Nath’s lancer is having a massive overhaul with pretty much every facet of the car being redone. starting with the exterior, a full respray is on the cards with some tribal airbrushing giving contrast to the new colour. More custom bodywork is also on the way with a new kit and some other key body alterations.
suspension wise airbags seem to be the front runner for the new setup. The wheels are also getting upgraded for bigger items to really tie in the stance and exterior appeal of the lancer. Although the airbag tank will take up real estate in the boot, there will still be enough space for the new audio setup that Nath is putting together.
Metin’s EJ8 Civic
metin’s civic has gone through some big changes over the past few months. The standard 1.6 litre motor was swapped out for a 2 litre frankenstein vtec motor. The motor was treated to a new exhaust system and intake setup. The final ancillaries are being finished up to prepare the motor for some boost.
A new audio setup has also made way into the car. The 15inch rockford fosgate sub has been swapped out for a more powerful 12″ item. new rockford fosgate amps and a capacitor has also been installed to give a constant solid amount of power to the speakers and sub.
Metin is now focusing on the suspension with a set of coilovers and new tower bars being sourced. the exterior will also get a boost with some larger wheels on the way.
Shak’s R31 Skyline
Shak’s Skyline has recently had a major revamp complete after too many
problems were foumd with the existing motor. seeing as the car is being primarily as a grand tourer type car, a twin turbo motor out of an R32 GTR was installed and dialled in with some extra parts.
The main attention is to now upgrade the entire suspension and brake package. Coilovers are on the cards along with new control arms, tie rods etc..
The exterior and interior will be left for last or ‘stage 2 of the build’ what looks to start next year. A respray and some small shaving is on the cards.
Tim’s DC2 Integra
Tim’s Integra is one of the youngest cars on the build. The first focal point on the car was the audio system, with entire audio setup being binned for all new and better gear. Clean subtle touches have been made in the interior, highlighting the classic tidy design of the DC2 interior, stepping away from the now common stripped or race inspired interiors.
With the car becoming a great cruiser, the current 1.8 litre vtec engine has been left stock. However a new intake and exhaust setup is making its way in shortly and plans are on the horizon for some forced induction.
Suspension wise the car has been treated to an Integra Type R suspension setup, bringing the car closer to the ground and giving it a meaner stance whilst improving handling.
Exterior wise, Tim is adament that the car will not go JDM front. instead he is drawing on cues from both the jdm and hellaflush/stanceworks styles to give the car the character he desires.
Shak’s EK1 Civic
This project is fast approaching its fourth year of being off the road. With most
of the fabrication work being complete, the focus is to get the car painted so assembly can start.
Engine wise, most of the components have either been acquired or been ordered. The bottom end is on its way from the united states and work on the head is about to start. Pieces for the turbo setup are being snapped up with a GT3071R turbo being accomodated for in the engine bay.
So from all of the above peojects, as well as others not discussed here, the site might seem idle but teamGROUNDzero is truly alive and kicking. Spending time behind the wheel or tools in hand bringing projects to life rather than sitting behind keyboards claiming about what we wish to build.
